More Right Than Wrong – Letting Go of 'No'

Day 240

Right now, in your life, more is going right than wrong*. By a long shot.

But does it feel like that? Often not!

Mindfulness is a practice of coming to see that plain truth. Not because you have faith, or believe, or hope, or whatever. But simply because it's how things are, and when you look closely, you will plainly see what's there.

Why don't you see it now?

We've seen how we have an unconscious negative bias – we lean towards 'no'. And with a 'no' comes a laser-focus on what's going wrong – and all the unpleasant emotions and the problematic thoughts/stories. Add to this, the fact that a deep part of us has been stuck in 'no' for a long time (many of us since childhood), and day-by-day, we continue to create more, and by now it's become a more-or-less permanent and unconscious posture.

As we practice, we are becoming increasingly aware & accepting of 'what is' – we are letting-go of 'no'. When you let go of 'no', you see 'what is' – which is mostly going right. The very fact that you are reading this, is proof positive of that.

It reminds me of the 'nonchalance' quoted below. Such an enormous amount is happening and going right to allow for that 'healthy' attitude.

The nonchalance of children who are sure of a dinner, and would disdain as much as a lord to do or say aught to conciliate one, is the healthy attitude of human nature.

Let go of no

Feel the maybe

Let go of yes
