Knowing ourselves fully – as nature – is required for us to live good lives and to fulfil our potential, individually and collectively. Living with an incomplete and incorrect understanding of yourself (and everything) will always produce problems!
This week we've been using our human awareness to look deeply into ourselves. Going deep, in terms of the practice, means looking at who we are below the 'Brain-Line'. These are our deeper minds that support our more familiar brain-based sense of self. Down here has a lot to tell us about the meaning of life and our purpose in it.
As you practice, there are a few things to be aware of regarding our focus on depth:
You never try and go deeper. Take it as it comes – some days are calm and depth is accessible, but some days are crazy and you can barely breath. When possible, in any situation, move towards increasing awareness of subtlety.
Deeper is not better. It's very easy to get caught-up in wanting to have a different experience to the one you're actually having.
The most efficient path to dealing with any issue and getting to your innate good stuff is to bring all of your awareness & acceptance right to where you're at. Depth will take care of itself.
